What is stress?
Stress is something that we cause ourselves due to situations that we experience, but is different for every person.
What is Cortisol?
Cortisol is is an important hormone in the body, secreted by the adrenal glands and has been termed the “stress hormone”
Who is affected by stress?
Everyone! And if you feel that you don’t have any stress in your life (lucky you!) then you know someone who is stressed, and their reaction to that will have an impact on you.
What causes stress Internally?
- Inability to accept uncertainty
- Pessimism
- Negative self-talk
- Unrealistic expectations
- Perfectionism
- Lack of assertiveness

- Major life changes
- Work
- Relationship difficulties
- Financial problems
- Being too busy

What can you do to cure my stress?
Accept what you cannot change, and try to think positively. Participate in Yoga if you feel that would help.
If I am hard on myself, does that contribute to my stress levels?
Most definitely! Remember that you cannot be everywhere at once and accomplish all tasks that exist. Lead a balanced life and do not be afraid to say no. It is your health that is most important!

Yoga is a form of exercise that brings together breathing and movement to calm the body and exercise your mind and muscles. It’s health benefits have been proven as well as it’s impact on stress management and anxiety relief.
Can stress affect children?
Indeed. Children are affected by factors such as the need to be accepted by peers, parents divorcing or illness of loved once. Also, if there is war going on around them that they see on TV, it will create stress in their immediate world as well.
